Luxury Safari At Loango Savannah Camp And Moukalaba-Doudou Nyanga Lodge + Fishing at Sette Cama
This 14-day travel itinerary in Gabon offers an immersive journey through Gabon’s pristine wilderness, blending luxury accommodations with thrilling wildlife experiences at Gabon’s most beautiful national parks. Your journey starts at Libreville where you’ll be staying either at the Radisson Blu or Hotel De La Sablière. The next morning you’ll take a domestic flight to Port-Gentil, from where you’ll transfer by car to Loango National Park where you’ll be staying at the Savannah Camp. You will enjoy daily safaris looking for animals such as red river hog, elephants, hippos, gorillas, chimpanzees, mangabeys and more.
From Loango we will hike to Sette Cama, where you can enjoy even more safari activities, looking for chimpanzees and other animals together with our local guides. For those who are looking for fishing activities in Gabon, Sette Cama is perfect. From Sette Cama fishing camp we will then continue to Nyanga Lodge at the Moukalaba-Doudou National Park. We will observe leatherback turtle nesting (from November until February/March) and look for gorillas, chimpanzees and more. We’ll then fly back to Libreville from Tchibanga and in Libreville you can enjoy a B’witi Ceremony. It’s good to have one extra buffer day here in case there is no flight since it's a one and a half day drive from Tchibanga to Libreville.
Loango National Park
Loango National Park, often dubbed “Africa’s Last Eden,” is a biodiversity hotspot on Gabon’s western coast, where lush rainforests meet pristine beaches and savannahs. This unique ecosystem allows for extraordinary wildlife encounters, including forest elephants, hippos surfing ocean waves, and lowland gorillas. You will be staying at Loango Savannah camp with daily safari activities, gorilla tracking, walking safaris and more.
Moukalaba-Doudou National Park
Moukalaba-Doudou National Park, one of Gabon’s largest protected areas, is a haven for primate enthusiasts and nature lovers, boasting dense rainforests and diverse wildlife. Moukalaba-Doudou is home to significant populations of western lowland gorillas and mandrills and the park offers great opportunities for tracking these primates in their natural environment. The Nyanga Lodge, luxury camp stay enhances the experience with comfort amidst the wilderness, and between November and February, visitors may witness leatherback turtles nesting along the park’s coastal areas, making it a highlight of the itinerary.
Sette Cama: Fishing and Wildlife Viewing
Sette Cama, a coastal village near Loango National Park, is a prime destination for both fishing enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Renowned for its exceptional sport fishing, the area offers opportunities to catch species like tarpon and barracuda in the rich waters of the Ndogo Lagoon and Atlantic Ocean. Beyond fishing, Sette Cama’s proximity to diverse ecosystems allows for remarkable wildlife viewing, with chances to spot elephants, buffaloes, and marine life along the coastline. This stop provides a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, immersing travelers in Gabon’s coastal and forested wonders.
